3 Tips for Breast Lift Recovery

Sagging breasts can affect your confidence and how you feel about your body. Restore your breasts to a perkier, more youthful position with a breast lift or mastopexy. This procedure corrects breast drooping resulting from many different causes.

What is a Breast Lift or Mastopexy?

Breasts may begin to sag as a result of pregnancy, weight changes, and loss of skin elasticity due to aging. Dr. Tenley Lawton understands how much these breast changes can impact your self-esteem. A breast lift removes excess skin while raising and reshaping the breasts. You can achieve shapely, attractive breasts that balance your figure and give you a more youthful figure.

How is a Breast Lift Performed?

The details of a breast lift depend on how much excess skin and tissue you have. Some breast lifts only require an incision around the areola. Others may require an additional incision vertically from the areola to the breast crease. Those with the most loose skin may also require a horizontal incision along the breast crease. All breast lifts take place under general anesthesia.

3 Tips for Breast Lift Recovery

Each person’s recovery from a breast lift differs, but you can expect that you will need time to rest and heal. Here are three tips to make your recovery more comfortable:

Prepare Meals

When you return from surgery, you will most likely not feel up to preparing food. However, your body needs plenty of nutrition to heal. We recommend preparing enough food so you will not have to cook anything for several days.

Find Comfortable Clothes

After a breast lift, you will have limitations on lifting and moving your arms. We recommend tops that button or zip up the front to avoid pulling shirts over your head. You can also stock up on other comfortable clothing that will not require much pulling or effort to get on.

Move Around

While rest and recovery are key after a breast lift, you should not remain inactive after surgery. After your breast lift, you will be instructed to walk around and do what you feel comfortable with. Even light activity promotes blood flow and keeps your circulation healthy.

Do I Need a Breast Lift or Breast Augmentation?

Many women ask this question since breast sagging and loss of volume often happen together. If you feel satisfied with your breast volume but not their position, a breast lift alone may achieve your desired results. You may benefit from breast augmentation if you have lost breast volume and want to replace it. Placing an implant during a breast lift can give you the fuller, more lifted shape you desire.
