Cellulite is a common condition that affects most women and many men. The uneven appearance of cellulite comes from fibrous collagen bands called septae that attach to the skin and tether it down, creating a dimple. These septae can also cause fat to bulge outward between them. Avéli™ releases these fibrous bands to let your skin become smoother and more even and stay that way.

How Does Avéli™ Cellulite Treatment Work?

Avéli™ is a minimally invasive treatment cleared by the FDA to treat cellulite on the thighs and buttocks. It uses a handheld device inserted under the skin through small incisions. It uses a tiny hook with a blade at the tip. A light allows your provider to track the device and target the septae creating your dimples. While you have many of these bands within your skin, most of them do not contribute to your cellulite.

When the device reaches problem septae, it hooks them, and your provider ensures they have found the correct band. The small blade then cuts through the band without affecting the surrounding tissue. The device is used to make a second pass and ensure that the band has been completely released. Since this technique can precisely locate the septae that create dimples, no time is wasted, and the results are targeted and effective.

Am I a Good Candidate for Avéli™ Cellulite Treatment?

Avéli™ is FDA-cleared to treat cellulite on women’s buttocks and thighs. Most healthy women are suitable candidates. However, you will see the best results if you have cellulite dimples, good skin elasticity, and not an excessive amount of fat in the area. Avéli™ does not address fat or ripples in the skin due to skin laxity. Patients with excess fat or loose skin may benefit from liposuction or Renuvion®.

Only a consultation can determine if Avéli™ is right for you. You may not be a good candidate if you have certain medical conditions or if the uneven appearance of your thighs and buttocks is not the result of dimples. If you are not a good candidate for Avéli™, you have several other treatment options available.

What is Avéli™ Cellulite Treatment Like?

During your treatment, your provider will first mark your dimples while you are standing so they can clearly identify them later. Local anesthetic is injected into the area, so you feel almost nothing during the procedure. While you lay on your stomach, your provider will target each dimple. Some may have several septae tethering them down. They will repeat the procedure on each dimple until it has been released completely.

What is Recovery Like After Avéli™ Cellulite Treatment?

You may experience some soreness and sensitivity in the treated area after your session. Most people return to work and other activities in 24 to 48 hours. You can resume your exercise routine after about a week. Soreness can be managed with over-the-counter medication and usually fades significantly within the first few days. Swelling can last for several weeks.

What Results Can I Expect With Avéli™ Cellulite Treatment?

The treated area will have some swelling after the procedure, preventing you from appreciating your full results. The skin will relax and become smoother within about two weeks to a month. Full results become visible within about three months as the last of the swelling subsides.

Since the fibrous bands causing your cellulite dimples have been permanently released, these dimples will not return. Your results are long-lasting, although new dimples may appear in the future. Unlike most other methods, Avéli™ treats the underlying causes of cellulite to prevent its return.
