What is JUVÉDERM^®?

JUVÉDERM^® is a group of cosmetic dermal fillers that is injected into specific areas of the face to restore volume and correct facial folds in a way that looks natural. They each contain hyaluronic acid, a component found naturally in the body that diminishes as we age. The JUVÉDERM^® family of fillers includes:

JUVÉDERM^® Ultra: JUVÉDERM^® Ultra effectively volumizes the lips for a plumper appearance. It is also approved for the treatment of smoker’s lines and wrinkles around the mouth.

JUVÉDERM^® Ultra Plus: JUVÉDERM^® Ultra Plus is designed to add volume in key facial areas, including the mid-face region (cheeks, temples, etc.). Similar to Ultra,

JUVÉDERM VOLUMA^®: JUVÉDERM VOLUMA^® uses hyaluronic acid to temporarily correct volume loss in the mid-face region, with particular emphasis on the cheeks.

JUVÉDERM VOLLURE™: JUVÉDERM VOLLURE™ temporarily adds volume to the folds that stretch between the nose and mouth, known medically as nasolabial folds.

JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA^®: JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA^® temporarily add volume to the lips, all while minimizing the appearance of wrinkles and lines around the mouth.

Am I a Candidate?

Because JUVÉDERM^® is a non-surgical treatment, most people are candidates if they have unwanted lines, wrinkles, or decreased facial volume they’d like improved. There are some contraindications that should be considered, however. JUVÉDERM^® is not recommended for:

Pregnant or breastfeeding women
Patients with known susceptibility to keloid formation or hypertrophic scarring
Patient with a known allergy to hyaluronic acid
Patient with a known allergy to lidocaine

What is a Typical Treatment Like?

Since no skin testing is required with JUVÉDERM^® your treatment can be done the day of your consultation by Newport Beach JUVÉDERM^® specialist and board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Tenley Lawton. All procedures are done at our Newport Beach plastic surgery office in Orange County, California.

Is There Any Downtime?*

There is no downtime associated with any of the JUVÉDERM^® fillers. Side effects are rare, but patients receiving JUVÉDERM^® might experience mild bruising, temporary swelling, and/or redness of the injected area.
