Breast Implant Removal with En Bloc

Remove Your Old Implants with Caring Hands

For many people, breast augmentation can help improve confidence – but when for any reason you need them removed, you want to ensure it’s handled in the best way possible. Breast implant removal with en bloc can help these patients remove their unwanted breast implants safely while still maintaining a solid breast shape.

What is Breast Implant Removal with En Bloc?

The primary goal of breast implant removal is exactly that – to remove damaged or outdated implants while maintaining the best breast shape possible. Breast implant removal is available at board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Tenley Lawton’s practice in Newport Beach, CA.

When removing breast implants, the capsule, or scar tissue around the implant, must be considered for the health and wellbeing of the patient. Dr. Lawton offers breast implant removal with total capsulectomy en bloc, meaning that throughout the whole process, the capsule and the implant are together. Both are removed simultaneously as a single unit. This technique is especially beneficial for patients who have a ruptured silicone implant, as it keeps the silicone contained. En-bloc capsulectomy can also be especially effective when patients are experiencing complications with their implants.

Am I a Candidate?

There are a number of reasons why patients may want to undergo breast implant removal surgery, which can include:

  • Damaged implant
  • Ruptured implant
  • Capsular contracture
  • You are starting a family and you don’t want to breastfeed with implants

In addition to the above reasons, the best candidates for breast implant removal are healthy individuals (non-smokers) who are 21+ and have realistic expectations for the outcome of their procedure. If you’re interested in replacing your implants instead of just removing them, Dr. Lawton also offers breast implant replacement surgery.

How Does It Work?

The breast implant removal surgical session takes about two hours to perform; during the first part of the session, Dr. Lawton will remove the old implant. Using the en bloc technique, she will remove the capsule of scar tissue in conjunction with the implant. In most cases, incisions will be made along the old surgical scar lines, but due to the nature of the en bloc procedure, it can cause incisions to be slightly longer so additional scarring may occur.

Real Patients Real Stories

Results*

If you had a complication with your implants, breast implant removal should alleviate those concerns. Special care will be taken to ensure after the implant is removed, you have the most natural-looking results possible. Dr. Lawton will discuss the exact results you can expect during your initial consultation.

Recovery*

For the first week, patients will need to rest and recover; it’s recommended that you sleep as propped up as possible, and have someone at home who can help with making meals. You won’t be able to lift anything, so mothers with younger children will need to plan for in-home childcare.

You should be able to return to work after the first 1 to 2 weeks. Patients are advised not to exercise until 3 to 4 weeks into recovery. Dr. Lawton will work with you to develop a personalized recovery plan.
