Also known as an eyelid lift, blepharoplasty is a cosmetic procedure that removes excess skin and tissue around the eyelids. This is a common issue experienced by individuals as they get older, and the skin around the eyes begins to lose its elasticity. 

It is a precise form of surgery that removes excess fat, skin, and muscle from the target area. It can be separated into two distinct categories, upper blepharoplasty and lower blepharoplasty, which relate to the upper and lower eyelid respectively. Patients can have the treatment on either eyelid or both, as well as a choice of a single eye or both eyes.

Blepharoplasty Cost 

Blepharoplasty is a significant and life-changing procedure that can only be completed by an experienced and board-certified surgeon. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons states that the average cost for the treatment in the United States of America is $3,282 – although that figure typically only covers the surgery itself. 

The total price will be determined by a range of factors, including but not limited to;

• Your location in the country,
• Whether anesthesia is required, 
• Whether having one eye or both eyes treated,
• Prescription medications, 
• Inpatient needs, including facility usage.

When eyelid surgery is used for primarily cosmetic reasons, it is unlikely to be covered by any medical insurance. However, blepharoplasty procedures that are designed to tackle redundant skin above the eyelashes will sometimes be covered.
