Tummy Tuck Steps

Tummy tuck procedures can vary slightly from one client to the next, depending on their age, size, and desired expectations. However, Dr. Lawton provides both full tummy tuck and partial tummy tuck treatments. Following a consultation and the necessary pre-visit preparations, the procedure itself will cover these steps;

• You will be given general anesthesia,
• A horizontal incision will be made into one of the natural skin creases located in the bikini area,
• The abdominal skin is lifted, and the muscles underneath are repaired,
• Upper abdominal skin is pulled down, and excess skin is cut away and sutured,
• A new opening is formed for the belly button, which is subsequently popped through to the surface,
• The incisions are closed in several layers to achieve the best scar.

It is a complex surgery that should only be completed by a board-certified plastic surgeon. Dr. Lawton uses practices that deliver rapid results that are designed to last. In total, the Tummy Tuck should last around three hours but can be completed in a single appointment.

A partial or mini tuck takes less time. A flatter, firmer stomach will be revealed instantly, although some downtime is required for the wounds around the incision to heal. This usually takes around one month.

Am I a Candidate for a Tummy Tuck?

Tummy Tucks may be required for a whole host of reasons. The most common, however, is that you’ve either been left with excess skin following pregnancy, rapid weight loss, or liposuction treatments.

If you have loose skin, wrinkles, stretch marks, and other visible symptoms, the tummy tuck is a procedure that should be considered. In many cases, it’ll be the only way to effectively remove the problematic skin forever.
