About Breast Reduction

Meanwhile, many patients simply prefer the appearance of a smaller chest.

All of Dr. Lawton’s breast reduction treatments are completed at the Newport Beach Surgery Center. The treatment involves using one of three incision types (donut, keyhole, or anchor) before excess skin and tissue are removed from the breasts. The remaining tissues are reshaped while the nipple and areola are treated to create a natural and proportional appearance.

Breast Reduction Recovery

Before undergoing a breast reduction treatment, Dr. Lawton can answer any questions you may have regarding expectations, costs, and other aspects. One thing you’ll be eager to clarify, however, is the recovery times involved. No two women are identical, but the vast majority of patients are able to return home between 48 hours and one week after surgery.

The recovery period itself can take up to six months as scars need time to heal. However, the worst aspects only last a few days;

• After three days, heavy swelling and bruising should become noticeable lighter.
• After two weeks, the light swelling begins to fade.
• After six weeks, you can usually return to normal activities, although scarring will be visible for a few months.
