Top 3 Reasons to Try Botox® for the First Time

Your facial expressions communicate emotion but can cause lines and wrinkles over time. Botox® smooths these expression lines and wrinkles for a youthful, relaxed look. As the most popular aesthetic treatment in the world, Botox® has established itself as a safe, effective way to relax facial muscles and smooth the skin.

What is Botox®?

Botox® is an injectable treatment for expression lines and wrinkles. It has been approved for decades as an aesthetic and medical treatment for many conditions. Those who find that their lines and wrinkles make them look older, tired, or even angry can benefit from Botox®. In the hands of an expert like Dr. Tenley Lawton, Botox® results look natural and never overdone or “frozen.”

Top Three Reasons to Try Botox® for the First Time

Every year, many people try Botox® for the first time. While you will have your reasons, these three can help many people decide whether Botox® might be right for them.

Botox® is Safe for Almost Anyone

It makes sense to have concerns about the safety of any treatment. However, you can rest assured that Botox® is safe for most people. It has been FDA-approved for aesthetic uses since 2002 and for medical uses for longer.

Botox® Lets You Look Younger

People love Botox® because it can make you look noticeably younger without surgery. This injectable treatment reduces lines and wrinkles caused by repetitive facial motions. With the facial muscles relaxed, you look younger, more alert, and less concerned or frustrated.

Botox® Can Prevent Lines and Wrinkles

Botox® as a preventative treatment continues to grow in popularity. Sometimes called “Baby Botox®,” preventative Botox® usually begins when people notice expression lines that do not disappear when the face relaxes. Since Botox® keeps facial muscles relaxed, it prevents stress on the skin that causes wrinkles.

What are Botox® Injections Used For?

Botox® injections have numerous uses. In medicine, these include eyelid spasms, migraines, and hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating). They can also be used for:

  • Horizontal forehead lines
  • Vertical creases between the brows (glabellar lines or the 11s)
  • Crow’s feet around the eyes
  • Lines and wrinkles around the mouth
  • A dimpled-looking chin

If you have questions about whether Botox® can treat your problem areas, we recommend a consultation with Dr. Lawton. She will establish which treatment will provide the desired results.

How Long Does Botox® Last?

Botox® results may become noticeable within a few days, but full results take seven to ten days to develop. You can expect your Botox® results to last three to four months, although this will vary. Individuals who have had regular Botox® treatments for a while may see their results last longer.

Do I Need Botox® or Dermal Fillers?

You know that Botox® treats lines and wrinkles, but they are not the only injectable treatment for these problems. Dermal fillers also treat lines and wrinkles but usually treat different ones than Botox®. Dermal fillers excel at treating lines and wrinkles caused by skin laxity or loss of facial volume, but they are not as effective for expression lines. Only a consultation can determine whether you need Botox®, dermal fillers, or both.
