What is Juvederm® Volux™?

Juvederm® Volux™ XC is the newest member of the Juvederm® family of dermal fillers. This treatment is the first dermal filler targeted for the jawline. Loss of definition along the jawline is one of the most common signs of aging. However, people of any age can use Juvederm® Volux™ to improve their jaw shape and contour.

Like other members of the family, Juvederm® Volux™ uses hyaluronic acid. This material holds onto moisture in the skin, adding volume and plumpness. Each Juvederm® filler has a different consistency that makes it effective for different areas of the face. Volux™ is the first dermal filler with a formula designed for the jaw.

Am I a Good Candidate?

Hyaluronic acid is the most widely used type of dermal filler due to its safety and natural-looking results. Most healthy adults make good candidates for Juvederm® Volux™. Ideal candidates want to add or restore the definition to the lower jaw. This treatment will not correct significant sagging. Dr. Lawton may recommend a surgical procedure if you have a noticeable amount of loose skin along the jawline.

You should not have Juvederm® Volux™ or any other injectables if you have an infection or active skin condition in the treatment area. Certain people should not have this treatment due to medical conditions. Candidates should have reasonable expectations about their results.

What is a Typical Juvederm® Volux™ Treatment Like?

Juvederm® Volux™ is administered by injection into the skin. The hair-thin needles cause minimal discomfort, and injections take as little as 15 minutes. The number of injections needed will depend on how much volume your injector wants to add. Juvederm® Volux™ results can be as subtle or noticeable as you prefer. Your injector will discuss your goals with you during your consultation so they know how to meet your needs.

What Results Will I See with Juvederm® Volux™?

Your Juvederm® Volux™ results will be visible immediately after treatment. They will improve for the next few days as the hyaluronic acid holds more moisture. Results last up to one year with good skin care, including sun protection. Each person’s body processes dermal fillers at a different rate, so the duration of your results may vary.

You will notice immediately that your jawline looks more sculpted and defined. Adding volume along the jawline corrects minor laxity and enhances the shape of your jawbone for a stronger profile. You can maintain this definition with treatments about once a year. The manufacturer of Juvederm® allows you to earn points toward future treatments.

Is There Any Downtime?

Non-surgical Juvederm® Volux™ does not require any downtime. People have their injections and return to work without delay. Some people notice minor bruising or swelling in the area for a few days. These should not hinder your usual activities. Follow any post-treatment instructions to help you achieve your best results.
