So, what is the difference?
The main difference between the two is the method in which they work. Each one has advantages that may suit your needs better than the other. Let’s take a closer look.
Botox Cosmetics
Botox uses small amounts of botulinum toxin to relax underlying muscles that cause wrinkles. As the toxin takes effect, you’ll notice gradual improvement over the course of a 4-7 days. The result is a natural, well-rested appearance. Botox Cosmetic treatments typically last anywhere from 3-4 months. No additional volume will occur with Botox.
For the most part, Botox is used in the upper region of the face. However, it can also be used to correct unwanted lines elsewhere.
Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers add instant, long-lasting volume. Lips and cheeks can easily be plumped with some fillers, while others are specifically designed to correct fine lines, wrinkles, or deep folds. Dermal fillers can last anywhere from 6-months to a year or more.
Typically, dermal fillers are best suited for correcting problem areas in the lower region of the face.
