Let’s face it, vanity does not discriminate. Women are not the only ones who value their appearance and want to look their best. While many men may not spend hours on end staring at themselves in the mirror, they can be equally as invested in their appearance as women are.
When it comes to enhancing their look, however, men have different needs and priorities, as they are obviously looking to achieve different results. And achieve those results they are – in droves! The American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery reports cosmetic procedures for men have increased by more than 106 percent between 1997 and 2012.
Below are three of the most popular cosmetic procedures men are seeking out right now.
It seems that men and women aren’t always so different. Rhinoplasty, or a “nose job,” is also high on the list of males looking to enhance their appearance. Most men are hoping to achieve a chiseled look, with strong facial features and a well-balanced profile.
Some men choose to pair a rhinoplasty with a chin augmentation to balance out facial features. A strong chin and well-defined jawline are two large considerations when determining the attractiveness of a man, so it makes sense that many want to tackle this area as well.
Men tend to request this procedure to minimize the appearance of their breasts. Gravity affects everyone, and no one is immune from saggy skin as we age. This can cause a man’s breasts to appear larger or more pronounced as the skin droops.
Larger men may also want to minimize the appearance of this area, especially those who have lost significant amounts of weight.
Liposuction, particularly around the abdomen, can emphasize the appearance of a man’s abdominal muscles. The stomach area can be a difficult zone for either sex to target, but the hard work you invest in the gym can be highlighted when extra fat cells are removed.
