Enhance Your Arms with an Arm Lift

Most people think about signs of aging primarily on their face, but aging can affect other areas of the body as well. As we age, upper arm skin can become loose and flabby. Patients who have experienced a significant weight loss are often left with stretched, loose, hanging skin in their arms. Regardless of the reason, excess skin can be removed through arm lift surgery.

What is an Arm Lift?

An arm lift surgery, also known as Brachioplasty, is a surgical procedure performed by board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Tenley Lawton to remove loose skin and excess fat deposits in the upper arm. Once the excess skin is removed, Dr. Lawton will ensure the remaining skin forms evenly around the arm, leaving it looking more contoured and less flabby

Am I a Candidate?

Excess hanging arm skin often leaves patients uncomfortable with their appearance and limited in their choice of clothing and activities. This can come from aging, massive weight loss, or just an overall reduction in skin laxity. If, for example, you desire to wear short sleeves with comfort and exercise without friction under your arms or worries about appearance, Dr. Lawton may suggest an arm lift surgery as a beginning to an improved appearance and greater self-confidence.

How Does It Work?

A brachioplasty is performed in board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Lawton’s office where she places incisions in the underarm and biceps groove along the inner aspect of the upper arm. The excess skin and fat are removed to improve the contour and firm the skin of the entire area extending to the elbow.

The length of time required to complete your arm lift surgery will vary between 2 and 3 hours based on the extent of lift required. It is usually performed as an outpatient surgery in an accredited surgery facility. Rarely is an overnight hospital stay required, but is dependent on overall health.

Real Patients Real Stories

Results*

With so many of the “popular” body contouring procedures like tummy tucks and liposuction procedures taking up the spotlight, it seems the arm lift procedure can go unnoticed on our list of cosmetic procedures. But don’t be fooled! Brachioplasty patients in Orange County find a pep in their step when heading to the beach or simply wearing dresses and shirts that reveal more of the upper arm.

Recovery*

Once your brachioplasty surgery is finished, you’ll have bandages over your arms and drains if needed to catch excess fluid. You should expect to take at least a week or two off from work and ensure you don’t raise your arms too high for three or four weeks following surgery. Rigorous activity is discouraged for 6-8 weeks after surgery. Dr. Lawton will create a customized recovery plan for you and ensure you’re set up for success while recovering from your arm lift.
