Am I a Candidate?

Good candidates for BOTOX^® Cosmetic are men (and women!) who want to ease the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines without looking overly “done” (frozen). BOTOX^® Cosmetic is most successful when used to treat mild to moderate forehead wrinkles and fine lines. Candidates should also be 21+ and have realistic expectations for their treatment.

What is a Typical Treatment Like?

BOTOX^® Cosmetic’s primary ingredient is botulinum toxin type A, which interrupts the signals that the brain sends to the muscle’s nerve endings. When this occurs, the muscle becomes temporarily “paralyzed,” causing the muscles to relax.

Men may be more concerned about BOTOX^® Cosmetic results, as they don’t want it to be obvious that they’ve had work done. That’s why Dr. Lawton starts with minimal injections, as she can build up to the results you want without going overboard.

What Results Will I See?*

The ultimate goal of BOTOX^® Cosmetic is to ease the frequent expressions that cause forehead wrinkles. BOTOX^® Cosmetic injections can be done within 15-30 minutes and produce almost immediate results (usually within the first week). Results last about 3 to 6 months, at which point patients will need to undergo another injection to maintain their results.

Is There Any Downtime?*

Side effects are minimal; however, patients should anticipate some swelling, redness, and mild discomfort at the injection site. There’s minimal recovery time needed, so patients can return to their normal activities about 4 hours after the procedure.
