How Does Liposuction for Flanks Work?

Liposuction procedures have come a long way in the recent decades. Today, liposuction is considered a minimally-invasive surgery with limited scarring or downtime. Through the latest techniques, Dr. Lawton is able to minimize trauma to surrounding tissue and facilitate a smoother, faster recovery process.

Dr. Lawton performs liposuction procedures on an outpatient basis. Liposuction consists of making small incisions in well-hidden locations allowing a thin cannula tube to liquefy and remove stubborn fat cells on the flanks and abdomen. The entire procedure typically takes 1-4 hours to complete depending on the amount of fat removal needed. Most patients find the procedure comfortable with IV sedation, however, general anesthesia can also be used.

Liposuction: Recovery & Results

The recovery from liposuction procedures is fairly straightforward. You can expect anywhere from 1-2 weeks of downtime depending on the extent of your procedure. Most patients are able to get back to work within 1-week, and more strenuous activities in about 2-weeks. While some initial results can be seen immediately, some post-surgical swelling can mask the final outcome of your procedure.
