Will My Breasts Be Lifted after a Breast Augmentation?

Breast augmentation and lifts may seem daunting, but Dr. Lawton helps her patients through every step. Every woman faces the same issues with age, gravity, and life pulling on her breasts, causing sagging and deflation. Dr. Lawton performs breast augmentation and lifts with the care and understanding of both a doctor and a woman.

Can I Receive a Breast Lift and Breast Augmentation at the Same Time?

Breast lift and augmentation both help women feel more comfortable in their skin by enhancing the appearance of their breasts. The difference is in the concerns they address and the method.

If you struggle with both the volume and position of your breasts, Dr. Lawton often performs augmentations and lifts in a single procedure. This results in comprehensive, natural-looking enhancement, and she walks you through the techniques she can use to ensure smooth and lifted breasts.

During your consultation, Dr. Lawton will review your surgery expectations and ensure your ideals are realistic. On the day of surgery, she will also assess and mark the positioning for the incisions and areola to see the nipples in a lifted position before you go under anesthesia.

What Techniques are Used for Breast Augmentation?

Before your procedure, Dr. Lawton evaluates your breasts, and together you choose what type of implant and incision you would like for your breast augmentation. You can choose between saline and silicone implants. Saline implants are made of salt and water to replicate the fluids in your body and typically need a less invasive incision. Most patients, however, choose silicone for its natural appearance and durability.

For incisions, there are three options. The periareolar incision is on the outer edge of the areola, making it easily hidden by the natural coloration. The transaxillary incision is around the underarm for more access and maneuvering of the implant. Lastly, the most common incision used is the inframammary incision–placed under the breast fold.

What Techniques are Used for Breast Lifts?

Breast lifts use three common techniques to lift the breast, reposition the areola, and reduce the areola size.

Around the areola has two circular incisions that help Dr. Lawton readjust underlying tissue and reorient the nipple. The incision is well hidden due to the natural coloration of the areola.

Around the areola and down to the breast crease is a circular incision around the areola and vertically down to the breast crease. This technique gives Dr. Lawton more access to the interior structure of the breast.

Around the areola and out horizontally and vertically is for those who require more adjustments to the interior tissue of the breasts. The incision goes around the areola vertically and horizontally on the breast.

During your consultation, Dr. Lawton will share her recommendations for which incision will provide your ideal results.
