Important Questions to Consider
Before getting breast implant replacement, Dr. Lawton and the team suggest asking the following questions.
What Type of Implants Do You Have?
Implants come in a variety of types, including saline, structured saline, silicone, gummy bear, round, smooth, and textured. Some, however, are more prone to failure than others. Older generations are less robust than newer versions.
How Long Have You Had Your Implants?
Breast implants have a limited shelf life. Over time, both silicone and saline versions degrade, leading to leaks, changes in shape, or visible “rippling.”
When considering breast implant replacement, consider how long you’ve had your existing implants. If you’ve had them for more than ten years, replacement should be considered.
Benefits of Breast Implant Replacement
There are many benefits of breast implant replacement with Dr. Lawton.
- Improvement in breast symmetry: Correct lopsided breasts due to implant migration.
- Fix leaks: Replace implants that might have become degraded or ruptured.
- Get rid of rippling: Make your breasts appear smooth again.
- Resolve scar tissue hardening: Removing an implant can become necessary if you develop capsular contracture or abnormal cosmetic changes to your breasts.
Am I A Candidate for Breast Implant Replacement?
Candidates for breast implant replacement include patients with ruptured or damaged implants, old implants past their warranty date, rippling, or capsular contracture. Women who are no longer satisfied with their current implant size can also benefit.
Patients should be over 21 and have realistic expectations for what breast implant replacement can achieve.
