What’s the Recovery Time for a Body Lift?

There is typically no additional recovery time when combining procedures. Recovery from a body lift is generally equal to that of your most extensive surgery. For many, a body lift includes a tummy tuck, liposuction, and a custom procedure such as an arm lift. Whatever the reason you’re looking to remove areas of excess fat and skin, at Tenley K. Lawton M.D., we’re at your side every step of the way.

Dr. Lawton is a board-certified surgeon who meets with each patient individually to craft a treatment that’s right for them. She uses her advanced surgical skills and techniques to ensure an optimal outcome with as little recovery as possible. Today, we’ll take a closer look at what you can expect in the weeks following this highly specialized procedure.

The Weeks After A Body Lift

In many cases, you’ll be able to go home the same day after your body lift procedure. You’ll be asked to have a friend or family member drive you to and from your surgery. You should have a support system nearby round-the-clock to assist with you through the initial 24-48 hours post-surgery. Even minor tasks during the first few days can be somewhat daunting.

After 3-5 days, you’ll begin to feel more like yourself. Walking around the house is encouraged every several hours. Discomfort levels will peak around day three and significantly subside with each following day. Pain medication will be prescribed to keep you comfortable throughout this time.

At the beginning of week two, you can start to incorporate more day-to-day tasks. Most body lift patients feel comfortable returning to non-strenuous work in 2-3 weeks. More strenuous activities should be avoided for 4-6 weeks. Dr. Lawton will customize a post-operative recovery plan based on your individual procedure.
