What is Breast Implant Removal?
Breast implant removal is a surgical procedure that involves removing old breast implants. If a damaged implant is the issue, Dr. Tenley Lawton will replace it with newer, higher-quality versions. If, however, you want to restore the shape of your breasts or begin breastfeeding, then Dr. Lawton will remove the old implant without replacing it. She may also take the opportunity to make cosmetic adjustments to the breast, including removing scar tissue.
Breast Implant Removal and Replacement Recovery
Because breast implant removal and replacement both involve surgery, patients will need to allocate time for recovery. Most patients require around a week of rest before they can return to work and three to four weeks before restarting exercise.
In the days immediately after surgery, you should try to sleep in an inclined chair or with a supporting pillow. This elevated position helps to prevent swelling and encourages healing.
You should also have somebody with you at home who can prepare your meals for the first week or so. Don’t attempt to lift anything heavy, including your children. If you’re a mom, arrange temporary in-home childcare. Don’t try to do it yourself.
