Many patients who walk through our door with complaints about a belly bulge are unclear about what procedure may be right for them. Liposuction and a tummy tuck can address similar concerns. Although both can drastically improve the appearance of your abdomen area, they use completely different techniques.
While it’s difficult to say without an in-person consultation, several key factors may make one procedure more advantageous than the other for some. Today, we’ll discuss the differences between them and who may be best suited for each.
Liposuction
Liposuction can be done in the abdomen region to remove substantial amounts of localized fatty tissue; the procedure is less invasive than a tummy tuck. Liposuction entails making small, easily-concealable incisions to predetermined areas before inserting a thin cannula tube to remove pockets of fat by using advanced suction technology.
You may be a good candidate for liposuction if you are within 20% of your ideal weight and have firm, elastic skin and relatively good muscle tone.
