Microneedling with SkinPen®
The majority of microneedling clinics use a dermaroller – a device that looks a little bit like a miniature paint roller, studded with hundreds, or thousands, of tiny needles. Dr. Lawton, however, uses a proprietary applicator called a SkinPen®. This device has a smaller head than traditional dermarollers, allowing her to apply microneedling to your skin more precisely.
SkinPen® works to a depth of around 2 mm which is slightly longer than many traditional dermaroller needles. The therapy helps to break down clogs in pores and scar tissue on the surface of the skin, giving the face a smoother and more youthful appearance. Tiny punctures trick the skin into believing it is damaged, encouraging it to produce more collagen and conduct its regular maintenance activities as if it were younger.
Benefits of SkinPen® Microneedling
SkinPen® microneedling comes with a host of benefits patients should be aware of. These include:
1. Customizable depths:
SkinPen® is a highly customizable device that Dr. Tenley Lawton adjusts according to your needs. Changing the length of the needles allows patients to target different layers of the dermis. Deeper scars, for instance, require longer needles.
2. Smoother skin in weeks:
Skin quality improves just a few weeks after SkinPen® microneedling. Optical results become apparent after about six months.
3. No downtime:
After your SkinPen® microneedling session with Dr. Lawton, you’re free to return to your regular activities. There is no downtime associated with the treatment.
4. Target individual conditions:
Most cosmetic surgeons view microneedling as a generic technique to improve skin quality. However, thanks to SkinPen®, Dr. Lawton can target specific issues, including problems with tone and texture, acne scars, hyperpigmentation, fine lines, and wrinkles.
5. Target multiple areas:
Most patients use microneedling on the face, but it is also suitable for other parts of the body, including the hands, neck, and decollete.
