What Cup Size Can I Achieve with Breast Augmentation?

How you feel about your breasts can affect how you feel about your whole appearance. Breast augmentation can improve your breasts’ shape, size, and symmetry. This procedure uses saline or silicone implants to shape the breasts you want. While women often have a specific cup size in mind when considering augmentation, there may be better ways to think about your goals.

What is Breast Augmentation?

Breast augmentation is a procedure to enhance the size and shape of the breasts. Dr. Tenley Lawton is a board-certified specialist in breast augmentation procedures. She performs breast augmentation in her Newport Beach surgical suite, typically under general anesthesia. Each breast augmentation is a customized procedure tailored to achieve a balanced, harmonious shape for your entire figure.

What Cup Size Can I Achieve With Breast Augmentation?

When women consider what they want from breast augmentation, many think first about size. Size plays an important role, but you should not let your ideal cup size distract you from the breasts that look best for your unique body shape. Research has shown that desired cup size is ineffective in determining the correct implant size.

Dr. Lawton will assess your breasts and discuss your size, shape, and projection goals. During your consultation, you will also have the opportunity to hold and feel implants of different sizes and types. You may find that you do not need as much added volume as you thought to achieve beautiful, proportionate breasts.

Do I Need Breast Augmentation or a Breast Lift?

Some women think they need to add volume to restore their breasts when they actually need a breast lift. Breast augmentation alone will not significantly change the position of your breasts on your chest. If your breasts have significant sagging, you may benefit from an augmentation, a breast lift, or both. Dr. Lawton will assess the position of your breasts and areolas and determine whether a breast lift will help you achieve your goals.

Which Type of Breast Implants Should I Get?

Breast implants can contain saline, a sterile salt water solution, or silicone, a thick transparent gel. Both types have advantages and disadvantages.

Saline Implants

Some women feel safer with saline implants. If these implants rupture, your body will naturally absorb the salt water. Saline implants can also be placed while empty and then filled in place, giving you more options for your augmentation procedure.

Silicone Implants

With an excellent record of safety and durability, silicone implants have become the most popular type. Most people find that these implants provide the most natural feel and appearance.

Am I a Good Candidate for Breast Augmentation?

Good candidates for breast augmentation want to achieve a new breast shape or size. You may be a good candidate if you are in good health and have reasonable expectations about your results. Dr. Lawton works with you to understand your goals and help you achieve results that exceed your expectations.
