Some fat deposits resist attempts to remove them with standard weight management and exercise. Liposuction can help sculpt and shape these areas, but the skin may still look loose. Renuvion® can tighten and firm skin after liposuction to give patients an overall more contoured result.
During a liposuction procedure, Dr. Lawton inserts a cannula under the skin through a small incision. This suctions out fat from deep layers under the skin and removes it from the body. You may have local or general anesthesia, depending on how much fat the surgeon will remove. Either way, you will not feel any discomfort.
Liposuction removes fat, and with fat removed, skin in the treated area may tighten somewhat over time. Your skin may not become as tight as you want. However, you can tighten and firm your skin during your liposuction procedure with Renuvion®.
Whether by itself or in combination with another procedure, Renuvion® tightens the skin using a combination of radiofrequency and plasma energy. This energy comes from a thin wand inserted through a cannula under the skin. The helium plasma helps to cool the process to a more comfortable temperature.
Renuvion® sends pulses into the skin, causing immediate contraction of the skin from underneath. This causes the skin on the surface to visibly tighten. This energy also triggers the skin cells to produce collagen, building the network of dermal fibers that give skin strength and firmness.
Liposuction and Renuvion® are often combined for maximum benefits. First, Renuvion® with liposuction requires no extra incisions. The Renuvion® can be administered through the same incision as for the liposuction cannula. Since Dr. Lawton can perform both procedures together, you will only need one anesthetic and one session of surgery.
As another benefit, Renuvion® makes your liposuction results more visible and enhances your sculpted look. Loose skin can disguise the muscles that many people work hard to get, but those results stand out with Renuvion® to tighten this skin.
Recovery from liposuction takes about two weeks, although, for some people, it may take longer. Patients will wear a compression garment to maintain their results during healing. Because the recovery from Renuvion® only takes a few days, you will have recovered from the Renuvion® before the swelling and bruising from the liposuction have subsided.
If you are a good candidate for liposuction, you should also be a good candidate for Renuvion®. To have liposuction, people should be nonsmokers in overall good health and with no history of bleeding or clotting disorders.
