What is Latisse and what does it do?

Latisse^® is a topical prescription medication made by Allergan (the makers of Botox® Cosmetic and Juvéderm®). It remains the first and only scientifically proven product approved by the FDA to stimulate eyelashes to grow longer, thicker and darker. It is a prescription and therefore only supplied through the office of a professional injectable fillers provider. This includes Newport Beach Latisse specialist Dr.  Tenley Lawton, MD, a board certified plastic surgeon in Orange County.

Latisse^® stimulates eyelash growth, prolonging the growth cycle and decreasing the shedding cycle so your lashes remain full and lush. Latisse® also works on eyebrows in some patients. Maintenance treatments of 2 to 3 times per week maintain this desired length thickness and darkness. Be sure to visit your injectable fillers provider like Newport Beach plastic surgeon Dr. Lawton to obtain refills of Latisse, which are essential to maintain your long-lash look.

Safety

When used as directed on the eyelids for eyelash growth Latisse® has been proven safe. Side effects were typically limited to temporary redness of the eye or eyelids. Please note: When Latisse® was used in the eye daily for glaucoma treatment, other side effects have been reported such as darkening of the skin under the eyes or the irises. These side effects were not seen when used for eyelash growth. See important safety information and package insert for more details.
