Where Can I Have Liposuction?
You can have liposuction almost anywhere that resistant deposits of fat can accumulate. Popular areas include:
- Abdomen
- Sides
- Waistline
- Love handles
- Thighs
- Arms
- Buttocks
- Hips
- Chin and neck
- Back (also known as bra fat)
- Chest (to treat gynecomastia)
Liposuction works almost anywhere that the body can store stubborn areas of fat. Let Dr. Lawton know about the areas that concern you most.
What is Recovery Like From Liposuction?
You will most likely need to wear a compression garment for several days after the procedure. You will have one, or a few small incisions closed with sutures or dissolvable stitches. Sutures will come out at a follow-up appointment.
Most people need about two weeks to recover from liposuction. Dr. Lawton’s careful and targeted approach means less bruising and swelling. You should be able to resume general activities at this point, although you should wait for Dr. Lawton’s approval before resuming more strenuous activities.
Am I a Candidate for Liposuction?
The ideal candidate for liposuction is within about 20% of their target weight and in overall good health. People should have reasonable expectations about the procedure and results. Anyone with bleeding or clotting problems may not be a good candidate for liposuction.
