How Long Does it Take to Recover from Rhinoplasty?

Many people feel like their nose looks out of balance with their face, or they feel unhappy with the shape or size of their nose. Others have a physical problem with their nose that surgery can correct. Dr. Tenley Lawton will help you achieve a natural-looking nose that is uniquely yours

What is Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty is performed to reshape, improve, or correct the nose. Rhinoplasty procedures remain extremely popular, but you should make sure the surgeon performing yours is board-certified and experienced like Dr. Lawton. A rhinoplasty may reshape tissue, cartilage, and nasal bones to achieve the desired shape and size.

What is Getting Rhinoplasty Like?

General anesthesia keeps you from feeling anything during the procedure. Dr. Lawton may use an open or closed rhinoplasty technique depending on the surgical requirements. A closed rhinoplasty only makes incisions inside the nose but can limit the surgeon’s access. If an open procedure is required, the incision is hidden in the cartilage between the nostrils.

How Long Does it Take to Recover from Rhinoplasty?

The most noticeable swelling and discomfort occur in the first few days after surgery. Swelling and bruising will gradually decrease over the following weeks. People with minimal-activity jobs can sometimes return to work after five to ten days, although they will still have some bruising. If you have a more active job, you should consult with Dr. Lawton when you can return to work. Subtle swelling may take up to a year to resolve completely

Functional and Cosmetic Rhinoplasty

Dr. Lawton performs both functional and cosmetic rhinoplasty procedures.

Cosmetic Rhinoplasty

A cosmetic rhinoplasty improves the size and shape of the nose and allows people to feel more confident and happy with their facial appearance.

Functional Rhinoplasty

A functional rhinoplasty restores the function of the nose after an accident, injury, or anything else that prevents normal breathing through the nose.

Functional corrections and cosmetic improvements can occur in the same procedure, so you have the option of choosing to have cosmetic surgery at the same time as your functional surgery.

How Much Does a Rhinoplasty Cost?

On average, across the country, rhinoplasty costs about $5400. This can vary greatly depending on your surgeon and their qualifications, your location, and the difficulty and complexity of your procedure. Other fees such as anesthesia will still apply.

Am I a Candidate for Rhinoplasty?

If you want to change the appearance of your nose, you may be a good candidate for rhinoplasty. Ideal candidates are healthy and have reasonable expectations about the procedure and its results. People who have had trauma to the nose or have breathing problems for other reasons are also good candidates.
