What is an Eyelid Lift?

An eyelid lift, otherwise formally known as blepharoplasty, is a surgical procedure that intricately removes fat, skin, and muscle from around the eyes. Dr. Tenley Lawton offers upper and lower eyelid lifts that can be done separately or simultaneously.

There are a few procedures that Dr. Lawton can perform with an eyelid lift, including a brow lift, forehead lift, or facelift.

How Does an Eyelid Lift Work?

Dr. Lawton makes discrete incisions, then removes and repositions fat, skin, and muscle for a tighter-looking eyelid area. An eyelid lift helps to give a bright-eyed appearance because the excess skin on the eyelids has been carefully altered.

How Long is Recovery from an Eyelid Lift?

How long it takes to recover from an eyelid lift can depend on your body’s natural process. IT can take up to two weeks to recover from an eyelid lift. You will be able to resume most activities after those two weeks. Dr. Lawton will go over your recovery plan after your eyelid lift.

The eyelids may appear swollen and bruised for the next two weeks, and it is crucial to keep your eyes from getting sun exposure. Dr. Lawton recommends wearing dark tinted sunglasses when out in the sun for extended periods until you fully heal.

Am I a Good Candidate for an Eyelid Lift?

Good candidates for an eyelid lift have drooping eyelids, deep under-eye bags, or both. Many candidates are the age of 35 or over when they have an eyelid lift. Ideal candidates should be both mentally and physically fit non-smokers.
