How to Keep Your Skin Healthy in the Fall

As the season in Southern California changes from summer to fall, it brings with it the always present Santa Ana winds and a dry heat. All of the wind and dryness can play havoc on your skin, particularly if your skin tends to be sensitive. With that in mind, there are a few tips that you can use to ensure that your skin stays healthy and keeps that great glow!

  1. Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize – All of the dry wind sucks the moisture right out of your skin during these months and the moisturizer regiment you are used to during the summer may not be enough to keep up. With that in mind, find a moisturizer that suits your needs and ensures that your skin stays healthy and moist. Dry skin can cause your pores to increase their oil production which can then lead to a misdiagnosis of oily skin. Keep an eye on the products you are using and be sure they are helping in the correct way, which actually leads to the next point…
  2. Evaluate Your Skin – skin is an organ and as such, can change with the season. What may be oily skin during the summer can change to dry during the fall and vice versa. Along with that, just as our taste buds change as we age, so too does our skin change. It’s important to evaluate your skin so that the decisions you make with product and skincare is the best for your current situation.
  3. Wear Sunscreen – When the weather cools down, we tend to forget that the sun is still shining just as bright. We’ve all seen people coming back from a day of skiing and snowboarding and their faces are bright pink, except for the raccoon eyes from goggles or glasses, of course! It’s important to always wear some sort of SPF protection whether it’s regular sunscreen or something built into your skincare products. Just because it’s not hot, does not mean you won’t get sunburned.
  4. Finally, consider one of my many skincare procedures offered such as BOTOX Cosmetic, injectable fillers, a chemical peel or more.
