As we head into September, the school season is once again upon us. For many, this brings a time of rejuvenation as our kids are headed back to school. However, for many, this brings an increased stress level with homework, sports, after school activities, and everything else that comes with this season. Because of this, it’s very easy to begin to slack in the fitness level that we worked so hard to build before summer and maintain throughout.
A couple of quick tips that are easy to follow can ensure that you stay on track and don’t waste all of the hard work you’ve put in this summer.
- Be Consistent – Even if you are unable to spend hours at the gym or working out, consistency is critical! Spend 15 minutes doing heavy cardio or a quick circuit workout using just your body weight. The Huffington Post has a list of quite a few great workouts that don’t require a lot of equipment and don’t require a lot of time.
- Watch What You’re Eating – Running around to a million appointments and destinations can make it easy to forget to pay attention to what we’re eating. Be cautious in the types of food you eat as well as how much you are eating. Don’t just grab something because it’s convenient; grab it because it’s going to help you with your goals!
- Get Your Rest – This time of year can place heavy demands on everyone, oftentimes leading to late nights and/or early morning. A good night’s sleep allows your body to recover, enhances your metabolism, and goes a long way toward having a good attitude throughout the day!
