Dr. Tenley K. Lawton is a board-certified surgeon who specializes in breast enhancement procedures of all types. During your in-person consultation, Dr. Lawton will walk you through every aspect of your procedure so you can make an informed decision about what’s right for you. Today, we’ll talk about some of the basics when it comes to what to expect before and after surgery.
Before your procedure, you’ll have several consultations with Dr. Lawton discussing the various aspects of your procedure including;
- Implant size and shape
- Incision type and placement
- The type of implant that’s best for you
You’ll also undergo several routine medical exams and blood tests to ensure you’re in ideal health prior to your procedure. Dr. Lawton will provide you with several prescription medications as well as a list of pre-procedural instructions you can do to facilitate a smooth recovery.
What to Expect After Surgery
Breast augmentations are done on an outpatient basis allowing you to go home the same day for rest and relaxation. You’ll need someone to drive you home and stay with you for 24-48 hours as the effects of general anesthesia dissipate. Swelling and discomfort will be at their worst the first 3-days following surgery. Prescription pain medication can be used to keep you comfortable during this time.
