Before your procedure, you’ll have several consultations with Dr. Lawton discussing the various aspects of your procedure including;
You’ll also undergo several routine medical exams and blood tests to ensure you’re in ideal health prior to your procedure. Dr. Lawton will provide you with several prescription medications as well as a list of pre-procedural instructions you can do to facilitate a smooth recovery.
Breast augmentations are done on an outpatient basis allowing you to go home the same day for rest and relaxation. You’ll need someone to drive you home and stay with you for 24-48 hours as the effects of general anesthesia dissipate. Swelling and discomfort will be at their worst the first 3-days following surgery. Prescription pain medication can be used to keep you comfortable during this time.
Most women feel comfortable returning to work in about 1-2 weeks. More strenuous activities and heavy lifting should be postponed for several weeks or until Dr. Lawton give you the go-ahead. Full recovery can take 3-4 months depending on the extent of your surgery and your natural healing process.
You’ll be able to see some effects from your breast enhancement directly following surgery. Continued improvement will gradually occur as post-surgical swelling subsides in about 2-weeks. While most women are happy with the results of their procedure immediately, it can take 6-12 months for your new breasts to fully “settle” into their new position.
