Eyelid surgery can reverse the curse of aging and gravity if you have droopy upper lids. This condition usually creates a “tired” appearance as we get older, even if you’re wide awake! This look can be easily corrected with eyelid surgery, but before you jump on the gurney, take a few moments to determine whether eyelid surgery may address your specific concerns.
Most “model” patients exhibit physical traits like excess skin that extends beyond the natural upper eyelid folds, an upper eyelid region that appears puffy, substantial wrinkles around the eyelids, bags or dark under-eye circles, or folds and creases in the lower eyelid region. These complaints can be easily remedied with eyelid surgery, resulting in a smoother, tighter and more youthful eye-region appearance.
Eyelid surgery can’t target other problems that may make you appear tired or saggy, however. These include a droopy eyebrow region or crow’s feet. Issues like these must be treated separately.
The very best candidates for eyelid surgery will not only be in good health and display one of the above-mentioned characteristics, but they will also be realistic about their results. This procedure will not give you a whole new face. Nor will it yield the kind of results that a brow lift or facelift might. It will also not change the “shape” of your eyes or eyelids.
Eyelid surgery is simply meant to reverse some of the aging process, restoring a bit of youth to your appearance, making you appear more alert and awake. Patients who are happiest with their surgeries were looking to restore some of their “old selves” to the windows of their souls. Whether you’re sure eyelid surgery is right for you or still have a few questions regarding whether you’re a good candidate, Dr. Tenley Lawton is here for you.
