About Breast Augmentation Recovery
Breast augmentation is major surgery. Therefore, patients should set several weeks aside for recovery.
Dr. Lawton performs surgeries as an outpatient procedure, meaning that your recovery will take place at home, so long as there are no complications. However, you will not be able to drive yourself home, so somebody you trust (usually a family member) will need to come to the surgery with you.
For the first 24 hours post-surgery, you’ll need somebody to stay by your side to check you are okay. Then, for the following one to two weeks, you’ll need to restrict your activities. Walking gently around your home is okay, but you shouldn’t do anything more vigorous than that.
After around a week or so, you may be able to return to work. And after two weeks, you should be able to bring more strenuous activities back into your routine. However, you should always listen to your body. Becoming active too soon could interrupt the healing process.
