What’s Hot & What’s Not
New Year, New You – The Trends in Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery
Newport Beach, Calif. –Board Certified Plastic Surgeon Dr. Tenley Lawton, based in Orange County – the cosmetic and plastic surgery capital of the United States – has seen surprising trends gaining momentum in the industry. From Bro-tox and breast downsizing to technological advances in the industry, cosmetic and plastic surgery undergoes a facelift of its own.
“More than ever before, we’ve seen some unique changes in the industry. The over-done, over-fixed look that stigmatized plastic surgery in the past, is giving way to a more natural less invasive approach,” says Dr. Lawton.
Dr. Lawton shares the top trends she is seeing in her practice:
Trend #1: Non-Surgical Facelifts
We have realized women who take care of themselves in their 30’s-40’s can avoid major surgical facelifts in their 50’s and 60’s. From liquid treatments such as Botox, Juvederm and Restalyne to lasers that have gained respect and FDA approval, women are avoiding more major surgical treatments, allowing less downtime and a more natural, softer effect.
Trend #2: Bro-Tox
Wrinkles are not sexist. Men have jumped on the Botox train more than ever and the trend will gain momentum in 2012. Dubbed Bro-Tox, men have turned to Botox to help stay current in the job workplace as well as the dating world. The key to Bro-tox is to not overdo it. Staying distinguished but not frozen is key.
Trend #3: Vectra Technology
My most favorite trend of 2012 is the influx of technology in the cosmetic and plastic surgery industry. VECTRA XT 3D is the latest and most advanced imaging system to help patients visualize their procedure outcome by taking high-definition photos of the patients and allowing manipulation to determine a final representation of the post-surgery results.
Trend #4: Breast Downsizing
While breast augmentation continues to be the most popular surgical procedure, women are returning to more natural size. B and C cups are gaining more popularity than in the past where D and DD+ were more desired. Women that have previously had large implants are asking for them to be removed or downsized.
Trend #5: Divorcee Surgery
Women re-entering the dating world after 10, 15, 20 years are finding it hard to compete with younger women in the dating pool. Many women who have divorced or been widowed are seeking breast lifts, tummy tucks, and facelifts to give them a more youthful appearance and the confidence to re-enter the dating world.
